About the race
The Screaming Pumpkin is an annual fall running event held at Lower Glen Oak Park in Peoria, Illinois on October 24, 2026. The event raises funds for the Yellow Bear Foundation, a nonprofit focused on awareness and research for Primary Immunodeficiency.
Races and participation options include:
- Full Marathon
- Marathon Relay (4 person)
- Half Marathon
- 6.55 Mile (10kish)
- 2 Mile Run/Walk
- Virtual Run/Walk with shirt and medal
Courses start and finish along the boulevard in Lower Glen Oak Park. The half marathon runs the 6.55 mile course twice; the full marathon and marathon relay run it four times. The course is marked with cones, turn arrows, and glowsticks approximately every 5 to 10 feet. Green glowsticks indicate the correct path and should be kept on the right; green on both sides indicates two-way traffic. Red glowsticks warn of hazards and should be avoided.
On-course support includes water and lemon-lime Gatorade at the cemetery aid station. GU Roctane energy gels are provided for the 2 mile at packet pickup and at the cemetery aid station. Headlamps are required for the marathon, marathon relay, and half marathon, and are encouraged for the 6.55 mile. All runners receive a long sleeve race shirt; half and full marathon entrants also receive a Yellow Bear quarter zip. Finisher medals are awarded at the finish line for the 6.55 mile, half marathon, full marathon, and marathon relay. Post race food is available via a food truck with a meal ticket on each bib.
