Event Information
The Screaming Pumpkin is a Halloween-themed running event held at Lower Glen Oak Park in Peoria, Illinois. The event benefits The Yellow Bear Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) awareness and research.
Distances
Participants can choose from several distances:
- Full Marathon
- Marathon Relay (4 Person)
- Half Marathon
- 6.55 Mile (10kish)
- 2 Mile Run/Walk
- Virtual Run/Walk (any distance)
Course Details
All courses start and finish along the boulevard in Lower Glen Oak Park. The route goes through Springdale Cemetery. The full marathon runs the 6.55-mile loop four times, and the half marathon runs it twice. The entire course is marked with cones, turn arrows, and glowsticks approximately every 5-10 feet, with green glowsticks indicating the correct path.
Registration and Schedule
Registration fees vary by distance and increase as the event date approaches, with price tiers in early August and mid-October. Shirts are guaranteed until mid-October for in-person events. An official timing company provides scoring.
Packet pickup is available on Friday at RC Outfitters in Peoria and on Saturday at Lower Glen Oak Park before the event. The events have staggered start times. Headlamps are required for the marathon, marathon relay, and half marathon, and are highly encouraged for the 6.55-mile race.
Other Details
Costumes are highly encouraged, and on-site body art will be available. There will be an on-course aid station with water and Gatorade, and energy gels are available for certain distances. All finishers in the 6.55-mile, half marathon, marathon, and marathon relay receive a medal. A post-race meal is included with registration, redeemable at a food truck.
