Monitor Merrimac Scout Strong 5K
The Monitor Merrimac Scout Strong 5K is the third annual run/walk presented by the Monitor Merrimac District of the Colonial Virginia Council of Scouting America. The event takes place in Newport News and features a 3.1 miles route. Proceeds benefit the Colonial Virginia Council, which serves nearly 2,000 youth.
Registration opens on May 25, 2026 and closes on July 18, 2026; the registration fee is $30. To be guaranteed a race t-shirt, registrants must complete registration by July 22, 2026. Early packet pickup is scheduled for August 21, 2026 at the Colonial Virginia Council office, 11834 Canon Blvd Suite L, Newport News, VA 23606. Day of race packet pickup and check-in are arranged at Copeland Field, located across from Warwick High School; parking is available at Warwick High School and carpooling is encouraged.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers, and to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over.
