Annual Ugly Sweater Run/Walk
The SCORES Running Club organizes an annual Ugly Sweater Run/Walk as a benefit for the Keene Community Kitchen. The event is organized around a festive ugly sweater theme and combines a recreational run or walk with collection of donations for the community kitchen.
Past editions collected both cash and food donations: in 2021 the event raised over $330 in cash and received 315 pounds of food donations, and in 2020 it collected more than 117 pounds of food and $250 in donations. Local sponsors have provided prizes in the past, including Ted’s Shoe & Sport, Monadnock Food Co-Op, and Life is Sweet. In 2020 participants completed a short group route of approximately 3 miles and then gathered for post-event refreshments at Modestman Brewing.
The event lists specific community kitchen needs that have been shared with participants, such as granola bars, canned vegetables, individual fruit cups, and ramen noodles. The format is a casual run or walk with an emphasis on supporting the Keene Community Kitchen through monetary and food contributions.
