Event overview
Scare in White Bear is a torch-lit Halloween 5K and .5-mile Fun Run held on October 24, 2026, at Memorial Beach on the shores of White Bear Lake, Minnesota (4958 Lake Ave). The course follows a paved lakeside path and finishes at Memorial Beach. The event is held at night and features Halloween decorations and a themed photo booth.

The event is open to all ages and abilities. Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed. Parents running with children on the fun run must register for the Parent’s Fun Run. Participants receive glow stick necklaces and bracelets, and race packets include a race bib, timing chip, and event shirt if selected. The 5K course includes a water stop at the turnaround.
Additional features include a kids’ Halloween party and beach trick-or-treating stations, free professional photography at the themed photo booth, and a post-race awards ceremony. Overall male and female winners receive Halloween-themed awards. Top three male and female athletes in each age group receive ribbons, with categories in ten-year increments (19 and under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+), subject to sufficient participation.
