Torch-Lit Night Run at White Bear Lake
Scare in White Bear is a Halloween-themed running event held in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The evening features a nighttime course along the scenic, paved walking paths of Lake Avenue and the shores of White Bear Lake. The environment is decorated for the autumn season with festive Halloween displays, and participants use glow stick necklaces and bracelets while navigating the torch-lit route.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5 km (3.1 miles)
- 0.5 mile Fun Run
The 5 km course is supported by a water stop at the turnaround point. This event is open to participants of all abilities, including those with strollers and dogs. Costumes are encouraged for all attendees.
The race hub is located at Memorial Beach, which hosts several pre-race and post-race activities. Before the main events, a kids' trick-or-treating session is held on the beach. After the runs, the site features a Halloween party, a themed photo booth with professional photography, and an awards ceremony.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female participants in the 5 km, as well as the top three finishers in various age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. Participants in the 0.5 mile Fun Run receive finisher medals and themed goodie bags. Participants may choose to receive an event shirt, with specific cuts available for men and women.
