Rab Scafell Sky Race 2026 : event overview

The Rab Scafell Sky Race takes place on 6 June 2026 in the Central Lake District, based at Lanty Slees Stickle Barn. The course covers 38 km with 2800 m of ascent over technical single-track trails and scree. The route runs over Lakeland fells and through valleys and includes the summit of England’s highest mountain. The maximum time allowed to complete the course is 12 hours. The race is part of the Skyrunning UK series and is ranked within the national series.

Entry, safety and race services

Entries open 4 October 2025 and close 15 May 2026. Minimum age on race day is 19. Entries are not vetted, but entrants must attest to their competence and provide details of relevant running or racing experience. Examples requested include longer technical trail races, other skyraces, long fell or hill races, or skyrunning skills training. The standard entry fee is £120, rising to £130 from 1 March 2026; the entry list showed 83 participants at the time of posting. Included in the entry fee are a fully marked course, two fully supplied feed stations with manned checkpoints, a finishers’ Seed Bomb Medal, electronic timing and tracking via Open Tracking, a professional safety officer and safety team, and race planning by the organising team. Optional extras are a race tee (£30), branded goat-bells (£25), and a post-race massage (£25, with 25% donated to a local school). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
