Scafell Sky Race 2027
Scafell Sky Race is a mountain running event scheduled for 5 June 2027 in the Central Lake District, based at Lanty Slees Stickle Barn. The course covers 38 km with 2800 m of ascent and has a maximum time limit of 12 hours. Entrants must be at least 19 years old on race day.
The route is described as technical single-track and scree throughout, running across central Lakeland fells and valleys and including a summit of England's highest mountain. The course is fully marked and includes two fully supplied feed stations and mountain manned checkpoints. Electronic timing and tracking are provided by Open Tracking, and a professional Safety Officer and supporting safety team are in place.
Entry is by SI Entries with tiered fees: £110, rising to £120 from 30/11/2026 and £130 from 28/02/2027. Entries are not vetted; by entering, athletes attest their competence to complete the course. The event is part of the Skyrunning UK series and offers a national series ranking.
Included with entry are a finishers’ Seed Bomb Medal and a tree planted for each medal handed out. Additional optional purchases are available through the entry system, such as a quality cotton tee, branded goat-bells, and post-race massage.
