Scafell Sky Race 2027
Scafell Sky Race is a mountain running event of 38 km with 2800 m of ascent on technical terrain in the Central Lake District. The course runs mainly on single track and scree, traversing Lakeland fells and valleys and including a summit of England’s highest mountain. The event is based at Lanty Slees Stickle Barn.
The race sets a maximum time limit of 12 hours. Entry requires participants to be at least 19 years old on race day. Entries are not vetted; by entering, competitors attest their competence to complete the course. Scafell Sky Race has been part of the Skyrunning UK series since 2017 and has served as a national qualifying and championship event in past years.
Entries include a fully marked course, two fully supplied feed stations and mountain manned checkpoints, electronic timing and tracking, and the support of a professional safety officer and safety team. Finishers receive a seed bomb medal, and a tree is planted for each medal awarded. Optional extras available via the entry system include a race cotton tee, branded goat-bells for support teams, and post-race massage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
