Scafell Sky Race 2027
Scafell Sky Race is a mountain trail race based at Lanty Slees Sticklebarn in the central Lake District. The route is 38 km long with 2800 m of ascent and is run as a circular course that visits multiple Lakeland valleys and fells, including eight Wainwright summits and a summit of England’s highest mountain. The course includes technical single-track trails and scree throughout and has a maximum allowed time of 12 hours.
The route is fully marked and supported with two fully supplied feed stations and manned mountain checkpoints. Electronic timing and tracking are provided by Open Tracking. A professional safety officer and safety team are present for the event. The race has been part of the Skyrunning UK series and has served as a UK National Team qualifying race for selected international skyrunning championships.
For the 2027 edition, entrants must be 20 years old on 4 June 2027. Entries are not vetted; by entering, participants attest their competence to complete the course. The organisers recommend that entrants are skilled and confident mountain or trail runners to meet course cut-offs.
Additional event details include a finishers’ Seed Bomb medal with a tree planted for each medal issued, and camping for tents and vans will be available for 2027 with details issued later in the year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
