Scafell Sky Race 2027
Scafell Sky Race is a mountain running event in the central Lake District. The course is 38 km with 2800 m of ascent and is run on technical single-track trails and scree. The route starts from Lanty Slees Stickle Barn and includes a summit of England's highest mountain.
The event is part of the Skyrunning UK series and is ranked within the Skyrunner National Series for the UK and Ireland. It has previously been used for national team qualification and championship selection in past years.
Entry requires a minimum age of 19 on race day. Entries are not vetted; by entering participants attest their competence to complete the course. Maximum time allowed on the course is 12 hours. Entries open 8 June 2026 and close 14 May 2027.
Included with entry are a fully marked course, two supplied feed stations with mountain manned checkpoints, electronic timing and tracking, a professional safety officer and supporting safety team, and a finisher Seed Bomb Medal. For each medal issued a tree is also planted. Live music is scheduled on site from midday to 23:00.
