Scafell Sky Race 2027
The Scafell Sky Race is a mountain trail race in the central Lake District based at Lanty Slees Sticklebarn. The course is a circular route of 38 km with 2800 m of ascent, run mainly on technical single track and scree. The route includes multiple Lakeland valleys, eight Wainwright summits and a summit of England’s highest mountain on the way.
The event has a 12 hour maximum time and is the short distance WMRA qualifier for the 2027 WMRA Championships and the TRA Home Countries Championships for 2027. Entries for the 2027 edition require competitors to be at least 20 years old on 4 June 2027. Entries are not vetted; by entering, competitors attest their competence to complete the course.
The entry package includes a fully marked course, electronic timing and tracking, two supplied feed stations and mountain manned checkpoints, a professional safety officer and supporting safety team, and a finishers’ seed bomb medal with a tree planted for every award given. The race has been part of the Skyrunning UK series since 2017. Optional extras offered via the entry system include a race tee, branded goat bells for supporters, and post-race massage.
