Christmas Pudding 10k
The event is a festive 10 km road race on the quiet roads of the Great Langdale Valley, based at the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in the Lake District. Fancy dress is optional and prizes are awarded for the best outfits. Each finisher who did not opt out receives a full size Christmas pudding. The minimum age for entrants is 15 years and the overall time limit is two hours; runners not at the half-way point within 50 minutes will be timed out.
The route uses open Lakeland roads with volunteer marshals and warning signs. Runners should stay left, run no more than two abreast and give way to traffic at junctions. Advanced life support medics and radio communications will be on site. No over ear or in ear headphones are allowed; bone conducting headphones are permitted. Dogs, spitting and snot rockets are not permitted on the course.
A water station is located at 5.6 km and will offer water plus mulled wine for over 18s. Participants are asked to be self-sufficient with fluids or bring a reusable cup as cups will not be supplied at the station. Facilities include portable toilets, baggage storage and food and drink available from the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel. Parking is on grass at two event car parks by the hotel with a charge of £5 or free parking for cars carrying four or more passengers; camper vans must use the National Trust Stickle Ghyll pay and display car park 150 m beyond the event parking.
Prize categories include first three men and women in the open class, veteran class winners by age group and two fancy dress winners who receive Brimstone Spa tickets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
