Sawyer's Race for Research 5K
Sawyer's Race for Research 5K is a community fundraising event held in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at 610 Wakefield Street. The event program includes an in-person chipped 5K run, a virtual 5K option, a 3K walk, and a kids run. Registration opens June 27, 2026, and closing dates vary by event. Entry fees differ by event.
The event supports research into TFP, Trifunctional Protein Deficiency, a rare metabolic disorder that affects cellular energy production and can cause life-threatening symptoms and frequent hospital stays. One hundred percent of proceeds are directed to TFP research at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Blessings Overflow is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Community fundraising has already generated over $300,000 for research.

Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to age-group winners in the following categories: 14 & under, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, and 60+. The event combines in-person and virtual participation to support medical research funding and public awareness of metabolic disorders.
