Great Turkey 5K Run

Event overview

The 39th Annual Great Turkey event in Bowling Green, KY includes a 5K run and a 3K walk at Kereiakes Park. The event is the sole fundraiser for the Bowling Green Running Club High School Athletics Program and provides financial assistance to eligible high schools in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Ohio, Simpson, and Warren counties. The 5K uses a gun start and chip finish with separate start and finish locations. An awards ceremony and Thanksgiving-themed door prizes are part of the event day.

Registration, packet pickup and rules

Registration fee is $30 before November 1, 2025 and $35 after that date. Shirts are included with registration; sizes are guaranteed for orders placed by November 1. There is a cap of 500 runners; all 500 bibs are allocated to runners and walkers will not receive bibs. Early packet pickup is available at a local retail location the day before the event and at the park on the event day; participants are encouraged to pick up bib chips early to avoid lines. Awards are given in male and female overall and age-group divisions (14 and under through 70 and over) plus master, grandmaster, and great grandmaster categories. Dogs are not allowed during the events, strollers are not allowed in the 5K, and bibs must be worn front and center for times to be recorded.
