Sault International Festival of Races
The Sault International Festival of Races takes place September 26-27, 2026 in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. Day 1 features the 5 Mile Bridge Run that crosses the International Bridge and starts and finishes at the LSSU Arts Center on the Lake Superior State University campus. The Bridge Run is a run only; participants are required to maintain a pace of 15 minutes per mile or faster so the bridge can reopen. Walkers who cannot maintain the required pace may be stopped and offered a shuttle by the International Bridge Authority.
Day 2 includes a half marathon and a 5K run that do not cross the International Bridge and start and finish near downtown Sault Sainte Marie. A separate 5K walk downtown does not cross the bridge and has its own division.
Distances
- 5 Miles
- 13.1 Miles
- 3.1 Miles
Virtual options are available for the 5 Mile, half marathon, 5K run, and 5K walk. Virtual participants receive a medal within two weeks after the race and may receive a t-shirt if ordered by the t-shirt cutoff of Aug. 31.
Participants are advised to carry an ID for medical emergencies. A passport is recommended though not required while running; Canadian citizens still need a passport to enter the United States. Emergency personnel may transport participants on the bridge to the nearest hospital in Canada or the United States. Travelers from Canada should allow extra time for possible traffic backups because the bridge will close for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
