Sault International Festival of Races

The festival takes place September 26 and 27, 2026 in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, with event locations on the Lake Superior State University campus and in downtown Sault Sainte Marie. The Saturday event is a 5 Mile Bridge Run that crosses the International Bridge and starts and finishes at the LSSU Arts Center on the historic campus. Sunday events include a half marathon and a 5K run plus a separate 5K walk that do not cross the International Bridge and start and finish near downtown.

Pace rules apply on the bridge course; runners must maintain a pace of 15 minutes per mile or faster to allow the bridge to reopen as scheduled. Participants who walk the entire bridge course and cannot maintain the required pace may be asked to stop and use a shuttle provided by the International Bridge Authority. Emergency personnel on the bridge will transport participants to the nearest hospital in either Canada or the United States if needed.

Virtual options mirror the in person distances. Virtual registrants receive a medal within two weeks after the race and may receive a t shirt if ordered by the t shirt cutoff of August 31. Participants traveling from Canada should allow extra travel time for border crossing and carry identification; a passport is required for entry into the United States.
