Event Information
The Kiolbassa's Sauerkraut Bend - the Wurst 5K Run will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas. The start and finish location is at King William Park. The event is scheduled to be held regardless of the weather.
The event includes two categories:
- Kiolbassa's Sauerkraut Bend Run - The Wurst 5K, an in-person, chip-timed 5K (3.2-mile) race.
- A Virtual option, where participants can run the distance on their own schedule.
Course and Details
The chip-timed course is paved and flat. It winds through the tree-lined streets of the historic King William District and along the scenic San Antonio Riverwalk. Water stations are available at the halfway point and the finish. The event is noted for honoring the German heritage of the area, once known as "Sauerkraut Bend."
Registration and Awards
Registration includes a custom race T-shirt, a finisher medal, a Kiolbassa sausage with sauerkraut, and a cold beer for participants aged 21 and over (while supplies last). The event is limited to the first 400 registrants.
Awards are given for overall male and female winners and for first-place male and female finishers in various age groups. A prize is also awarded for the best costume. Age group and overall awards are based on chip time.
