The Autumn Lucky Dip Run - Staines-upon-Thames
The Autumn Lucky Dip Run is a 7 hour Time Challenge event held from a base at The Last Hop in Staines. Runners choose their own finisher medal from a selection of past-event medals rather than receiving a set medal. Walkers are welcome and membership offers a reduced £23 entry, guaranteed entry and a mini-me medal pin for members.
The event allows participants to control their distance. The minimum official finisher distance is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 4.37 miles / 7 km but may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3k and 5k turn points within the lap to help meet UK Athletics age restrictions. Typical lap counts: 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon, 7 or more for an ultra; a 50 km option is available.
The course follows a stretch of the River Thames, is fully signed and requires no navigational experience. Surfaces are mainly well made paths and tarmac with a very short grass section; road shoes are suitable year round. The event is held on public footpaths so runners should be considerate of other users.
Finishers completing at least 3 km receive a themed medal; distance pins are available for Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50 km and Ultra achievements. All finishers receive a goody bag, with a vegan goody bag option. An aid and drinks table is provided at the start/finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items.
Venue facilities include toilets at The Last Hop but no separate changing rooms or showers; downstairs toilets are available for changing. Parking is available at Bridge Street Car Park, Staines TW18 4TP. Number pick up is on the day at race registration. A non-secure bag drop is provided. Headphones are allowed.
