The Autumn Lucky Dip Run
The Autumn Lucky Dip Run is a seven hour Time Challenge held from a base at The Last Hop in Staines, alongside a stretch of the River Thames. The event uses a signed loop so no navigation experience is required.
The Time Challenge lets participants control their distance. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 4.37 miles (7 km) but may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The course includes a 3 km turn point and a 5 km turn point. It is three laps for a half marathon, six laps for a marathon, seven laps or more for an ultra, and a 50 km option is also available.
The route is mainly well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section; road shoes are suitable all year. The event is fully signed and held on public footpaths; runners are asked to be considerate of other path users.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and longer distances earn distance pins for Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50 km and Ultra. Medals for this race are chosen from a selection of past-event medals. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option. An aid and drinks table is available at the start/finish of each lap.
A £23.00 entry price is listed as available only to members; members are guaranteed entry and receive a mini-me medal pin at events. Venue toilets are available but there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Bridge Street Car Park in Staines is stated as nearby parking. Final instructions are sent by email and race numbers are picked up on the day. A bag drop is provided but is not secure. Headphones are allowed.
