Great British Bake Run 2026
The Great British Bake Run is a time-based running event held in Staines-upon-Thames. This event follows a 7 hour Time Challenge format, allowing participants to choose their own distance by completing multiple laps or partial laps within the time limit. The course is situated along the River Thames and consists primarily of tarmac and well-made paths, with a small section of grass. The route is fully signed and suitable for road shoes.
Participants can aim for various distances based on the number of laps completed:
- 3 km
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon (3 laps)
- Marathon (6 laps)
- 50 km
- Ultra Marathon (7 or more laps)
The event features a baking competition with prizes for the best tasting, best looking, and best effort cakes. These cakes are then placed on the aid table for runners to eat during the event. The aid station also provides a selection of drinks, fruit, crisps, and cookies, including vegan options.
All finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a cupcake-themed medal that functions as a fridge magnet, along with a goody bag. Runners who complete a Half Marathon distance or further are also eligible for specific distance pins to attach to their medal ribbon.
