The London Run - Staines-upon-Thames
The London Run, organised by Saturn Running, is a 7 hour Time Challenge held at The Last Hop, Thames Edge Court in Staines. Participants choose how many laps to complete on a signed loop along the River Thames. The course uses mainly well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section; road shoes are suitable year round. A 3km turn point and a 5km turn point are included to accommodate younger runners and UK Athletics distance rules.
The minimum recorded distance for a finisher is 3km. Lap details: a full lap is stated as 4.37 miles (7km) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. Standard lap counts given are 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or more for an ultra; a 50km option is available. The event is fully signed so no navigation experience is required.
Finishers who complete at least 3km receive a London-themed medal. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50km and ultra achievements and are attached to the medal ribbon. An aid table and drinks station are provided at the start/finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items. Goody bags are available, including a vegan option. Toilets and changing facilities are provided at the venue. Car parking is available at Bridge Street Car Park, Staines. Headphones are allowed and the route follows public footpaths.
