Event overview
The Dashing Dog Charity Run is organised by Saturn Running at The Last Hop, Thames Edge Court, Clarence Street, Staines, TW18 4SU. The event raises funds for local dog rehoming charities: a £2 surcharge is added to every entry and is donated in full, optional £3 donation pins are matched by the organiser (resulting in £6 per pin for charities), and 10% of event profits are donated for entry-only purchases. Entry fees shown range from £20 to £40, and a £25 entry rate is available only to members. Final race information is issued by email and race numbers are collected at registration on the day.
Course, distances and facilities
This is a 7-hour Time Challenge on a fully signed loop along the River Thames, mainly on made paths and tarmac with a very short grass section; road shoes are suitable. The minimum official finisher distance is 3 km. A full lap is stated as 7 km (4.37 miles) but may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. Planned lap structure and options:
- 3 km minimum
- 5 km turn point within the lap
- 7 km full lap
- Half-marathon: 3 laps
- Marathon: 6 laps
- Ultra: 7 or more laps
- 50 km option available
Toilets and changing facilities are available at the venue. There is parking at Bridge Street Car Park, Staines, TW18 4TP. An aid/drinks table is provided at the start/finish of each lap with savoury, sweet and vegan options. Headphones are allowed. Bag storage is available but not secure.
