Pilgrim Challenge
The Pilgrim Challenge is a two day trail ultra covering 66 miles along the North Downs Way National Trail. The route follows historic tracks once walked by pilgrims to Canterbury and passes through woodlands, rolling fields and villages. The course is point to point and is run over two stages with overnight accommodation provided in a local school hall as part of the ticket.
Event logistics include luggage transfers, marked signage, GPX files for navigation, staffed aid stations and hot evening meals. A Course Manager oversees the day and a fully qualified medical crew is on site. The organiser provides minibus shuttles between event locations and a small number of partner hotels; parking is available at the main event base but is locked overnight, so single day participants need to plan transport accordingly.
Compulsory kit requirements include a fully charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of water and a waterproof jacket; a head torch is required if a competitor may finish after dark. Additional equipment may be made compulsory depending on weather. The organisers describe the route as subject to typical British winter conditions including mud, ice and snow, and state the course is well marked with support to keep competitors on track.
