About the race
Durham 5 in 5 Days Day 4 is a 7 hour time challenge held at Durham Amateur Rowing Club beside the River Wear. The event uses a fully signed trail loop with views of the Cathedral and does not require navigational experience. It runs under UK Athletics rules and is licensed by the Trail Running Association.
The event allows participants to choose how far to run within the 7 hour limit. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for half marathon distance and above.
Available distances and lap information:
- Minimum distance 3 km
- Full lap 7 km or 4.37 miles
- Half marathon is 3 laps
- Marathon is 6 laps
- Ultra is 7 or more laps
- 50 km option available
Members receive the lowest entry price, which is £10 lower than the full price, and members are guaranteed entry and receive a mini-me medal pin at each event. Runners who belong to a UK Athletics affiliated club receive a £2 discount.
Facilities include toilets, changing, a bag drop near the start finish area that is unstaffed, and aid and drinks tables with vegan options. Parking is pay and display nearby and participants should not use the rowing club car park. Headphones are allowed and runners should be considerate of other path users.
