GNR & Time Turner 2026 - Durham

The event takes place on Sunday 30 August 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. It is a 7 hour Time Challenge held on a signed trail course along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral.

This format allows participants to choose their distance. The minimum distance is 3 km, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points on the lap to support UK Athletics age restrictions. Typical lap counts:

• 3 km minimum part of a lap
• Full lap 7 km or 4.37 miles (may change to 3.28 miles)
• 3 laps for a half marathon
• 6 laps for a marathon
• 7 or more laps for an ultra; 50 km option available

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are provided for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances and one pin is attached to the medal ribbon. All finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. An aid and drinks table is provided at the start/finish of each lap with vegan snack options.

Facilities at race HQ include toilets and changing. There is an unstaffed bag drop near the start and finish; items are left at the participant's sole responsibility and the organiser accepts no liability for lost items. Pay and display parking is available in the city centre and nearby streets; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted. Final race instructions are sent by email in the week before the event and numbers are collected at race registration on the day. Headphones are allowed and the course uses public footpaths, so participants should be considerate of other users.
