About the race
The Scare Bear Run 2026 in Durham is a unique, inclusive trail running event held at the Durham Amateur Rowing Club along the scenic River Wear, offering views of the Cathedral. Participants can choose their distance in a 7-hour time challenge, with laps of approximately 7km (4.37 miles) or a shorter 3.28-mile loop depending on conditions. Distances range from a minimum 3km up to 50km, accommodating all abilities including walkers.
The course is fully signed, requiring no navigation skills. Finishers earn a special Scare Bear themed medal, with additional pins for longer distances. Amenities include aid stations with snacks and drinks, goody bags (including vegan options), toilets, changing facilities, and free parking nearby.
