The Dun Holm Challenge Day 2
Day 2 of the Dun Holm 5 in 5 Days Challenge takes place at Durham Amateur Rowing Club and follows a signed trail beside the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. The event is a seven hour Time Challenge held under UK Athletics rules and licensed by the Trail Running Association. It allows participants to choose how far they run, with a minimum official finisher distance of 3 km. Members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs receive a £2 discount on entry.
The course is classified as a trail run and is fully signed so no navigation experience is required. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap to allow younger runners to comply with UK Athletics distance rules. Toilets and changing facilities are available at the race HQ and there is an unstaffed bag drop near the start and finish; the organiser accepts no liability for lost items. Pay and display parking is available in nearby streets; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are issued for half marathon and greater achievements and are attached to the medal ribbon. Aid and drinks tables are available at the start and finish of each lap, with vegan options. Headphones are allowed and participants should be considerate of other path users.
Distances:
- Minimum official distance: 3 km.
- Full lap: 7 km or 4.37 miles, may change to a 3.28 mile loop.
- Half marathon: 3 laps.
- Marathon: 6 laps; Ultra: 7 laps or more; 50 km available.
- 3 km and 5 km turn points provided for younger runners.
Age maximum distances under UK Athletics rules are applied on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
