Sassafras 8-Mile Challenge
The Sassafras Mountain 8-Mile Challenge is an 8 miles running event held on March 7, 2027 at Rocky Bottom Retreat & Conference Center in Sunset, South Carolina. The course follows a steep, winding road climb to the summit of Sassafras Mountain and then a scenic trail descent back toward the finish, with significant elevation gain on the uphill section.
On-course support is limited: there are no aid stations along the route, and water is available at the start and finish area. Packet pickup is provided before the event. Awards for top finishers are presented at a summit gathering, and post-race pancakes are served at the venue.
