Pleasant Ridge Backyard Ultra at Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center
Pleasant Ridge Backyard Ultra is an open-ended endurance running event held January 30–31, 2027 at Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center in Greenville County, South Carolina. The format requires runners to complete repeated laps until only one runner remains.
Each lap is approximately 4.1 miles and must be completed within the hour. Runners begin each new lap on the hour and must finish a full lap before the next hour begins. A runner who does not complete a lap or who returns after the hour is given a DNF. The last runner to complete a full lap is declared the winner. There are no runner categories; all participants start together.
The course uses sections of the JFA trail and paved paths. Event activities include early bib pickup and aid station setup on January 29, runner check-in and bib pickup plus a runner information meeting on January 30, and continued racing on January 31 until the event ends with the final competitor. Aid station resources on Friday are first come, first serve; participants using pop-up tents are asked to secure them.
Registration opens March 10, 2026 and closes August 31, 2026. Early registration through August 31 is $75; registration after that date is $85. Every participant receives a DNF camp mug and T-shirt; the winner receives a finisher award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
