SAR Wild Run
SAR Wild Run takes place on Sunday August 9, 2026 at Shaver Lake, California. It is a fundraiser for Fresno County Search and Rescue and offers on-site and virtual participation across several event formats.

The course start is located one quarter mile north of the intersection of Dinkey Creek Road and Fishing Club Road on the south side of Shaver Lake. The site sits at about 5,400 feet elevation and passes meadows, forests and streams. The 5k includes an initial descent to the water's edge followed by a mile-long, 200-foot scramble of switchbacks along a mountainside.
Participants receive a technical event shirt, a custom Big Foot finisher's medallion, chip timing, downloadable photos and a finisher's certificate. Food and refreshment offerings noted for the day include a BBQ prepared by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, ice cream, cooling towels and a beer garden. Awards are presented and unique finisher items are provided.
The event is held rain or shine and the organizer states there are no refunds. Packet pickup is available at Fort Washington Fitness on August 8 and there is morning packet pickup near the start line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
