SAR Wild Run
SAR Wild Run is a mountain trail event near Dinkey Creek Rd and Fishing Club Rd in Shaver Lake, California, at approximately 5,400 feet elevation. The event is a fundraising effort supporting the Fresno County Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team. Terrain includes meadows, pine forest, streams, and Sierra trails.
Distances and options include:
- Trail Half Marathon 13.1 Miles
- 10K Trail Run 10K
- 5K Trail Wild Run 5K
- 2M Hike 2 Miles
- Virtual entry run on own course and time
Course notes: the Half Marathon combines the 5K and 10K trail sections and then follows additional trails toward Dorabella in a loop before rejoining the 10K course. The 5K starts with a descent to the water's edge followed by about a mile of switchback climbing totaling roughly 200 feet of ascent; this scramble section gives the 5K its Wild Run name. The 2 Mile hike is described as family friendly but is not stroller friendly.
Virtual participants run on their own course and time; results for virtual entries are not official or posted. Organizers will mail finisher medallions and event shirts to virtual entrants within two weeks after the event. Registration opens July 31, 2025 for in person and virtual entries; in person registration closes May 29, 2026 and virtual registration closes August 10, 2026. Fees vary by event.
