Event overview

The SAR Wild Run is a fundraiser for Fresno County Search And Rescue held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Shaver Lake, CA. The course starts about 1/4 mile north of the intersection of Dinkey Creek Road and Fishing Club Road on the south side of Shaver Lake. The event is set at approximately 5,400 feet elevation and features meadows, forests and streams. The event takes place rain or shine and the organizer states there are no refunds. Dogs are not permitted for safety reasons.

The 10k Trail Run is listed as a 20 point race in the CLASSIC Runner of the Year Series. The 5k course descends to the water's edge, then includes about a mile of switchback "scramble" rising roughly 200 feet. Participants receive a technical event shirt, a custom medallion, chip timing, and can download free pictures. On-site offerings include awards, a BBQ prepared by the Fresno County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team, ice cream, cooling towels and a beer garden. Packet pickup is available at Fort Washington Fitness on August 8 (11:00 am to 2:00 pm) and on event morning near the start line. Shuttle service is provided for the event.
