SAR Wild Run

The SAR Wild Run is a trail running event held in the Sierra scenery of Shaver Lake, California. The race precinct is located approximately one quarter mile north of the intersection of Dinkey Creek Road and Fishing Club Road on the south side of the lake. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Fresno County Search and Rescue team.

Participants can choose from several distances:

  • Trail Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • 10k Trail Run
  • 5k Trail Wild Run
  • 2M Hike (Not stroller friendly)
  • Virtual race

The 5k Trail Wild Run features a course where the first mile consists of a descent to the water's edge, followed by a mile-long climb reaching 200 feet in elevation through a series of switch-backs on a mountain side. The Trail Half Marathon integrates portions of both the 5k and 10k tracks, including a loop toward Dorabella before rejoining the 10k course.

The 10k Trail Run is included as a 20-point race in the Runner of the Year Series. Registered participants receive a technical event shirt, a medallion, chip timing, and a meal prepared by the Fresno County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team. The environment features forests, meadows, and mountain streams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
