Santa Barbara Triathlon & Beach Festival
The Santa Barbara Triathlon & Beach Festival is a longstanding multi-event triathlon established in 1981 and held at East Beach / Cabrillo Bathhouse, 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara. The festival presents a range of race formats that use the Pacific shoreline and nearby roads.
Events include:
- SB 45
- SB 45 Relay
- SB 35 (Aquabike)
- SB 25
- SB 10
- SB 10 Duathlon
- SB 10 Women Only
- SB 10 Parent / Child
- 5K Beach Run
- One Mile Ocean Swim
The course sequence uses an ocean swim with views of the Channel Islands, a bike route framed by the Santa Ynez mountains, and a beachfront run that finishes with music and on-site refreshments. Participant reports describe the bike course as technical with climbs and some very fast straights. The event offers options for relays, aquabike competitors, and parent / child teams, and includes community support such as neighborhood aid stations and volunteers.
Organizers publish athlete briefings and virtual course talks, and maintain news items related to registration and event logistics. The overall setup emphasizes beachside starts and finishes and multiple race formats across swim, bike, and run disciplines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
