Sandy Bay Family Fun Run

The Sandy Bay Family Fun Run is a community event at Sandy Bay Parking Area in Hout Bay, Cape Town on Saturday, 28 November 2026. The event brings together conservation partners, local organisations and sports clubs to encourage families, residents and visitors to use and enjoy the public trails and coastline in a safe, communal setting.

Participants can choose between running, walking or exploring the coastal and mountain trails. Distances offered include:

10 km run
5 km fun run
3 km family walk

The event is led by SANParks and Community Crime Prevention with involvement from local partners and supporters, including community groups, lifesaving and safety services, schools and running clubs. The meeting point is the Sandy Bay Parking Area. The focus is on shared use of the natural area and community presence on the trails rather than competitive racing details.
