Sandusky River Trail Fun Run/Walk & Paddle
This event combines trail running, a short walk and a paddling option at Steyer Nature Preserve on October 31, 2026. The site follows the Sandusky River and includes wooded, winding terrain.
Distances and participation options:
- 5K trail with stairs, hills, narrow sections and foot bridges.
- 1 mile grass path designed for jogging strollers.
- Kayaking approximately 2000 m round trip; 1000 m downstream and 1000 m back.
- Combined entries: 5K plus kayaking or 1 mile plus kayaking.
The 5K course is a natural wooded path where some natural obstacles may be present; accessibility is limited on that course. The 1 mile route is an all grass path with easier access for strollers. Kayaks and safety equipment are provided for the paddling option. Paddling will be organized in groups as needed, so individual paddling times may vary with the number of registrants.
Registration details include an early fee and a later fee, with a t-shirt guaranteed for registrations completed before October 15. Children 10 and under may enter free. Parking and registration are handled at the southern entrance off County Road 33 near Fry Road. No pets are allowed. An award will be given to the overall top male and female finisher of the 5K. Proceeds support the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
