The Inaugural Sandhill Summer Countdown is a 5k run/walk held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Georgetown, Delaware. The event takes place at Sandhill Fields, a 57-acre sports complex at 20330 Sandhill Rd that includes sports fields and walking trails. The race is organized by the Seashore Striders in partnership with the Sandhill Sports Foundation and benefits the Sandhill Sports Foundation.
Registration and logistics
The event offers online registration through RunSignup and a mail-in option using the Seashore Striders entry form. Early bird, pre, and race-week pricing tiers are listed; participants registered by February 17 are guaranteed a t-shirt, with later registrations served on a first-come basis. Race timing will use the ChronoTrack B Chip system. Race-day registration is available at an increased fee.
Awards and amenities
Finish line production and post-race awards are provided by Seashore Strider Event Production. Custom printed t-shirts and custom awards are offered. Awards will be presented to overall male and female champions, overall masters (40+), and the top three male and female finishers in the listed age categories (9 & under; 10-13; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+). Awards will be presented shortly after the final finisher; unclaimed awards may be picked up locally or shipped for a postage fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
