Sanders' Saunter Charity Race
Sanders' Saunter Charity Race is an annual trail event held at Clinton State Park, Shelter 1, Army Corps of Engineers Overlook Park in Lawrence, KS. The event offers multiple race distances and runs on marked park trails that include the ridge of Sanders Mound and sections of white, yellow and blue trails.
Distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
All courses start and finish at Shelter 1. The 25K and 50K routes share much of the same trail; the 50K is composed of two loops of the 25K course. The 10K course uses the Lake Henry aid station and returns on the blue trail before finishing at Shelter 1. Runners on the 25K and 50K must carry a handheld or hydration pack. Drop bags are available at Lands End and the start/finish aid station. Aid stations include Lake Henry, Lands Ends and the Start/Finish station, with specific mileage noted by the organizers.
The event is dog friendly; dogs must be leashed and under control and owners must clean up after them. Packet pickup is available the evening before the race and on race morning at designated locations. Runners may change distances before the race with possible fees; transfers of entries to other participants are not permitted. The race does not allow refunds or deferrals. A Hero Runner fundraising program offers tiered benefits for participants who raise funds for the event charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
