Event Details
The CVC San Diego Triathlon & San Diego Tri Series 5K takes place on August 16, 2026, at Chula Vista Bayside Park in Chula Vista, California. It is event number two in the San Diego Triathlon Series and is also part of the Triple Crown of Triathlon. The event uses a one-park venue, with the start, transition area, finish line, and a post-race beer garden all located in the same place. The setting is along the San Diego Bayfront.
Distances and Events
The multisport event includes several race formats:
- International Triathlon: 1,000 m swim, 38 km bike, 10 km run (ages 16+)
- Sprint Triathlon: 500 m swim, 19 km bike, 5 km run (ages 13+)
- Sprint Relay: 500 m swim, 19 km bike, 5 km run (ages 13+)
- Sprint Duathlon: 1 mile run, 19 km bike, 5 km run (ages 13+)
- Sprint Aquabike: 500 m swim, 19 km bike (ages 13+)
- Sprint Aquathlon: 500 m swim, 5 km run (ages 14+)
- Mini Sprint Triathlon: 200 m swim, 9 km bike, 2.4 km run (ages 11+)
- Itsy Bitsy Triathlon: 100 m swim, 4 km bike, 1.2 km run (ages 7-10)
- Chula Vista 5K: A standalone 5 km run (ages 4+)
There are also Duo Racer categories for challenged athletes in the Sprint Triathlon and Sprint Duathlon distances.
