San Clemente Ocean Festival
The San Clemente Ocean Festival is a multi-day athletic event held at the San Clemente Pier in California. Organized by a volunteer organization, this coastal event focuses on ocean safety and environmental awareness while providing various competitive venues for participants.
The event operates with a "One Fee - All Events Entry" structure. Participants who pay a single entry fee are permitted to join any of the specific events listed under that registration category. All competitors receive a commemorative festival t-shirt, a swim cap, and a competitors kit as part of their entry.
A wide variety of disciplines are featured throughout the weekend:
- 5K Beach Run - A running event held on the sand.
- Biathlon - A combined event featuring a 1K swim and a 5K run.
- One Mile Ocean Swim - A competitive swimming distance in the open ocean.
- International Lifeguard Competition - Includes events such as surf races, rescue relays, and surf ski races.
- Junior Lifeguard Competition - Features beach flags, surf races, and paddleboard races.
- Paddle Events - Includes Open Ocean Paddle for SUP, prone, and kayak participants.
- Surf Contests - Includes the Pier Bowl Classic and several Grom's Rule divisions.
- Dolphin Dash - A specific event held on the first day of the festival.
Other activities include the Run-Swim-Run, Splash and Dash Relay, and a Bodysurfing Invitational. While many competitions occur alongside professional lifeguard events, specific divisions are available for children, including a "Push-in" surf contest for participants aged 7 and under.
