San Clemente Ocean Festival
San Clemente Ocean Festival is a volunteer-run organization focused on ocean safety, the environment, and community support through an athletic and family event at San Clemente Pier. The festival uses a one fee - all events entry system; one payment entitles a participant to enter any of the listed events and includes a commemorative SCOF tee, a SCOF swim cap, and a competitors kit.
The program spans two days and groups competitions by theme. Saturday features lifeguard-focused contests, including an International Lifeguard Competition with surf races, rescue relays, surf ski races, ironman format events, and NDA dory races. A Junior Lifeguard Competition on Saturday includes beach flags, surf races, run-swim-run, and paddleboard races. Separate Saturday entries include a children's running race called the Dolphin Dash and the Pier Bowl Surf Classic, an open and age-group surfing event.
Sunday is devoted to beach and ocean events. A combined entry covers ocean swims, paddling, and runs, with scheduled events such as a 5K Beach Run, a Biathlon (1 km swim, 5 km run), an Open Ocean Paddle of about 5.5 miles, a one mile ocean swim, a run-swim-run, SUP sprint, and a Splash & Dash relay. Separate Sunday entries include a standalone 5K Beach Run and the Grom's Rule youth surf contest, which includes a 7 & under Push-in Division.
