About the race
Live Oak Odyssey is a fixed-time trail running event on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at O'Neill Regional Park in Trabuco Canyon, California. The event offers three fixed-time options:
- 8 Hour trail run
- 6 Hour trail run
- 3 Hour trail run
Runners complete repeated laps of an approximately 2.75 mile loop with about 500 feet of elevation gain per loop and a maximum elevation near 1,349 feet. The route uses Arroyo Trabuco Trail, a paved section to Live Oak Trail (about 1.3 miles), Coyote Canyon Trail (about 0.5 mile), and Coyote Trail back to the start. Course markings include pink ribbons.
The park is heavily wooded with coast live oak and sycamore trees; surrounding hillsides feature cactus, wild buckwheat, sagebrush and chaparral including scrub oak, buckthorn and mountain mahogany. Trail surfaces include single track and double track with both uphill and downhill sections.
One major aid station is located at the start/finish and is stocked with sweet and salty snacks, PB&J, fresh fruit, potatoes, Coke, ginger ale, Tailwind hydration, GU salt capsules and anti-chafe salve from Squirrel's Nut Butter. Crews may access the main aid station but must remain at their vehicle while assisting their runner; crews should not eat from aid station tables.
Additional details: parking at the park requires a $5 fee paid by exact change, drop bags are available near the aid station, entrants must complete a full loop for it to count, and no pacers or pets are allowed on course. Awards include finisher medals and top three overall male and female awards in each event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
