Live Oak Odyssey Trail Runs
Live Oak Odyssey is a fixed-time trail running event held at O'Neill Regional Park in Trabuco Canyon, CA. The course uses an approximately 2.75-mile loop with about 500 feet of elevation gain per loop and a maximum elevation near 1,349 feet. The route passes through Trabuco and Live Oak Canyons and is wooded with coast live oak and sycamore trees; surrounding hillsides include cactus, wild buckwheat, sagebrush and chaparral plant communities such as scrub oak, buckthorn and mountain mahogany.
The event offers three time-based options:
- 8 hour event option.
- 6 hour event option.
- 3 hour event option.
The loop contains a mix of climbing and descending, single-track and double-track sections. Course markings include pink ribbons and a mapped route. One major aid station is located at the start/finish and provides a variety of sweet and salty snacks, PB&J, fresh fruit, potatoes, Coke, ginger ale, GU Roctane salt pills, Tailwind hydration and electrolyte products, GU salt capsules and anti-chafe skin salve from Squirrel's Nut Butter. Crews may access the main aid station area but must remain at their vehicle and should not eat from aid station tables.
Additional race details note that drop bags are available near the aid station, parking at the park requires a $5 fee (exact change recommended and OC Parks passes are not valid), participants must complete a full loop for it to count, and no pacers or pets are allowed on course.
