Salute to Service 5K and Kid's Mile
The Salute to Service event is presented by Tidewater Striders and the City of Suffolk Parks and Recreation and takes place at Festival Park, 215 W. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA. The event includes a 5K and a Kid's Mile held on November 7, 2026.

The course is described as fast and flat through downtown Suffolk. There is one aid station offering water located at about the 1.5 mark of the course. Registered entrants in the 5K and the Kid's Mile receive a premium T shirt and all finishers receive medals. Onsite hospitality and refreshments are provided, including an after party with a live band, beer, pizza, snacks, and cold beverages.
Packet pickup is available early at Momac Brewering Company on the Friday before the race and on race day by the starting area. Registration remains open through race day. The standard registration fees listed are thirty dollars for the 5K and the 5K race walk, and twenty dollars for the Kid's Mile.
Awards for the 5K include top three overall male and female, top three male and female in specified age groups, and top three walkers male and female. The Kid's Mile awards top three in defined youth age groups. A military team competition features largest team and fastest team categories with specific eligibility and scoring rules.
