Salute to Service 5K and Kid's Mile
Presented by Tidewater Striders and the City of Suffolk Parks and Recreation on November 7, 2026, at Festival Park, 215 W. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA.

- 5K Wheeled Division (Push Rim/Wheelchair athletes only)
- 5K Ruck Division (Weight classifications: Women 20lb; Men 3lb)
- Kid's Mile (1 Mile)
The course is described as fast and flat through downtown Suffolk. There will be one aid station providing water at about the 1.5 mile mark.
All registered 5K and 1 Mile participants will receive a premium T-shirt and all finishers will receive medals. Onsite hospitality and refreshments are planned, including an after-party with a live band, beer, pizza, snacks, and cold beverages.
Packet pickup will be available on race day near the starting area; pickup windows are listed separately for the 5K and the mile. Registration remains open until 7 a.m. on race day. Listed registration fees vary by division, for example $30 for many 5K entries, $35 for some divisions, and $20 for the Kid's Mile.
Awards for the 5K include top three overall male and female and top three in specified age groups; walk divisions also receive awards. The 1 Mile awards are for the top three in each youth and open age group. A military team competition will recognize both the largest team and the fastest team, with fastest-team scoring based on the top three male and top three female finishers for each service; eligibility rules differ for largest and fastest team entries.
