The event takes place at Minto Brown Island Park in Salem, Oregon, with the starting area at parking lot number 3 by the pavilion. It is presented as a fundraiser to support the McKay High School cross country team.
Both courses are described as flat and located in a natural park setting. The 5K is entirely on paved trails. The 10K follows paved paths with a short loop on an open trail before returning to pavement. One water station serves both courses, positioned around mile 1.25 for the 5K and around mile 4.25 for the 10K. All race courses close at 9:00 PM and race timing and course monitoring end at 8:30 PM.
Packet pickup begins at 6:00 PM, and day of race registration and in-person signup are available until 6:50 PM using all forms of payment, unless capacity is reached earlier. Chip timing is provided by Eclectic Edge Racing and immediate timing results are available. Entry includes a post race ice cream sundae.
Racing divisions use ten year age groups (1-10, 11-20, 21-30 through 80-89). The top three male and top three female finishers receive ribbons. Restrictions include no rollerblades, skates, skateboards, dogs, or unregistered participants. Baby joggers and strollers are allowed and walkers are welcome in the 5K.
