Event Overview
The LewisGale Salem Half Marathon, 8K, and Kids Fun Run take place in Salem, Virginia. This event series started in 2016 and is managed by Blue Ridge Racing. The courses start and finish at the Salem Farmers Market in the downtown area. Participants travel through a variety of local settings, including residential neighborhoods, the Roanoke College campus, and the downtown business district.
Available Distances
The event features several race options for different age groups and preferences:
- LewisGale Salem Half Marathon: A 21.1 km course open to ages 12 to 120.
- Virginia's Blue Ridge 8K: An 8 km road race.
- G&H Contracting Kids Fun Run - 1 mile: A 1.6 km run for children ages 4 to 12.
- G&H Contracting Kids Fun Run - 2 miles: A 3.2 km run for children ages 4 to 12.
- Virtual Options: Remote participation is available for the half marathon, 8K, and both kids' distances.
Series Participation
The half marathon is part of the Virginia's Blue Ridge Triple Crown. Runners who complete this event along with the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Full or Half Marathon and the Star City Half Marathon within the same calendar year are eligible for a special Triple Crown medal. A Sprint Series medal is also available for those who complete the shorter distance events across the three race weekends: the Blue Ridge Star-K, the Salem 8K, and the Star City 10K.
