52nd Anniversary Salem Distance Run
The Salem Distance Run is a long-standing community event held in Salem, Virginia. Celebrating its 52nd anniversary in 2026, the event offers multiple course distances for different age groups and interests. The races begin on Main Street, specifically in front of the Shrewd Outdoors building, and conclude at Longwood Park.
Participants can choose from the following event categories:
- 10k Run
- 5k Run/Walk
- Kids Run (1 mile fun run through Longwood Park)
Registration for all participants includes a t-shirt. Preferred-sized shirts are available for those who register by July 10, 2026. After July 31, 2026, the registration fee for each event increases by $5.00. Following the completion of the races, an award ceremony is held to recognize participants.
Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at RunAbout Sports Roanoke and on the morning of the event at Longwood Park. For those driving to the event, parking is provided at Longwood Park and throughout downtown Salem. To ensure a safe environment for all runners, pets and strollers are not permitted on the course.
