Ryan's Ranch Run
Ryan's Ranch Run is a community event at Thousand Hills Ranch in Pismo Beach featuring a 5K, 10K, and Kids Mile. The event raises funds for the Central Coast Athletics Foundation (CCAF) and 17 Strong, which provides Victory Trips for young adults facing life-threatening illness.
Distances:
- 5K - 3.1 miles
- 10K - 6.2 miles
- Kids Mile - 1 mile
The 5K and 10K follow mixed dirt and paved ranch roads through rolling fields and grazing areas, with portions that are stroller friendly. The 10K extends deeper into the ranch after the shared opening miles and includes an out-and-back ranch road section with a turnaround water station. Course support comes from volunteer mountain bike club riders and on-course water is provided.
The Kids Mile is an all-paved loop that starts and finishes at the barn and is led by a cyclist in a steer mascot outfit. The Kids Mile is designed as a safe, family-friendly route where children may run, jog, walk, or be accompanied by a stroller.
Awards and team competition are part of the event. Top overall finishers in the 5K and 10K and leading Kids Mile finishers receive commemorative cowboy hats and additional prizes for top male and female finishers. Team awards include largest, most spirited, and fastest team categories with specific scoring rules and minimum team size requirements.
A post-race festival includes live music, food by Hoagies, local vendors, raffle prizes, and community celebration. The day also features the 17 Strong Victory Lap to honor Victory Trip recipients. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
