9th Annual Ryan Volker and Rose Scarpa Memorial Scholarship 5K Ninja Run
The Ryan Volker and Rose Scarpa Memorial Scholarship 5K Ninja Run is a community event held in Reno, Nevada. The event takes place at the Idlewild Park Rose Garden and follows a path along the Truckee River. Participants are encouraged to dress in ninja-themed attire, a theme chosen to honor the memory of the two individuals for whom the scholarship is named.

The course for this year utilizes a route that includes the closure of Idlewild Drive. Registration is open to individuals in various age categories, including adults, teens (13 and up), and children (12 and under). There is also an option for team registration for groups consisting of three to thirteen members.
Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in the men's and women's divisions. A raffle is typically held featuring items such as gift certificates to local restaurants, gift baskets, and other prizes. Proceeds from the event support a scholarship for students attending the Culinary Institute of America. Participants who register by April 3rd are eligible to receive a commemorative T-shirt. Packet pickup is organized at a local martial arts facility on the Friday preceding the event or at the park on the morning of the run.
