Run on the Western Sydney International Airport Runway
The Runway Run 2026 offers a unique opportunity to participate in a race held at the brand-new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. Located in Luddenham, New South Wales, this infrastructure is Sydney’s upcoming 24/7 gateway for international, domestic, and cargo flights. For this specific event, organized by Elite Energy, the airport tarmac is opened to the public for a series of running and walking events.
The course takes place directly on the airport runway, providing a flat and fast surface without any vehicle traffic. Participants can choose from several distance options, all taking place on the open tarmac:
- Half Marathon (minimum age 17)
- 14 km Fun Run (minimum age 15)
- 7 km Fun Run (minimum age 12)
- 4 km Fun Run (minimum age 6)
- Community Runway Walk (open to all ages, including children under 3)
The event serves as a fundraiser in support of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation. Registration is required for all participants, including those joining the free category for children under the age of 3. Family packages are available for the community walk distance.
