Parklands Running Festival
Parklands Running Festival takes place at Lizard Log in Abbotsbury within the Western Sydney Parklands. The event offers multiple distances: a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and a 2 km Family Dash.
The course runs through a nature-filled area and uses paved footpaths and roads. The route includes several hills and the first and last 200 m are on grass. All distances are professionally chip timed by Multisport Australia. There are no cut-off times for the 2 km, 5 km, or 10 km. The half marathon has a 3.5 hour cut-off.
All finishers receive a themed medal, post-race snacks, sponsor giveaways, and a finisher’s certificate. A photographer will take images on course and these will be published after the event. The 2 km Family Dash is aimed at children; an accompanying adult can run for an additional fee, but that adult will not be timed and will not receive a finisher medal.
The site is accessed by car with large car parks to the east and west of Lizard Log via Horsley Drive. A grass overflow car park may be used and can require four wheel drive depending on weather. Race bibs are printed three weeks before the event and posted two weeks before the event for those who elect postal delivery.
Volunteer roles include course marshalling and registration. Volunteers are offered future race entry credit up to $60, morning coffee, and a post event breakfast. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
