About the race
Runway 5K at Memphis International Airport is presented by the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority as its 2nd annual run on September 19, 2026, at Memphis International Airport in Memphis, TN. The event uses airport grounds and a runway as the race course, offering close-up views of aircraft landing and taking off. Registration closes September 13 at midnight. There are no day-of-event registrations and no area for spectators; only registered attendees will be allowed admittance for security reasons.
All attendees age 3 and older must register; children age 2 and under may enter without registration if accompanied by a registered guest. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. Race participants will receive a T-shirt and a finisher medal. Awards include top three overall male and female finishers, top master and grand master for each gender, and top three male and female finishers across multiple age groups. Proceeds support the Memphis International Airport Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on civic engagement, education, sustainability, health, and community support.
The foundation has awarded more than $300,000 in academic scholarships and has provided educational and career development opportunities and essential items to underserved communities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
