Runway 5K at Memphis International Airport
The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) hosts the 2nd Annual Runway 5K at Memphis International Airport on September 19, 2026. The event sends registered participants onto one of MEM’s runways, offering close-up views of aircraft landing and taking off and access to airport grounds not normally open to the public.
Only registered attendees are permitted entry for security reasons. There will be no day-of-event registration and no area for spectators. All attendees aged three and older must register; children two and under may enter without registration if accompanied by a registered guest. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Race registrants receive a T shirt and a finisher medal. Awards include top finishers overall by gender, master and grand master categories, and top three in age groups from 9 and under through 75 plus. Registration closes on September 13 at midnight. There are no refunds unless a participant purchased the Refund Protection Program; race management may cancel or modify the event and registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to Acts of God.
Proceeds benefit the Memphis International Airport Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports civic engagement, education, sustainability, health, and community initiatives.
