Runway 5k - Gastonia
Runway 5k is a USTF certified 5k road race held at Gastonia Municipal Airport, located at 1030 Gaston Day School, Gastonia, NC 28056, on September 12, 2026. The course starts and finishes on the airport runway and has a one hour maximum time limit to complete the course due to runway closure requirements.
The event supports the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program. Entry fees are $30 with a shirt or $25 without a shirt; shirts are not guaranteed after August 15, 2026. Registration opens September 21, 2025 and closes September 10, 2026. Race day sign up is offered the morning of the event between 6:00 and 7:00. Packet pick-up is available Friday, September 11, 2026 from 7:00 to 18:00 at Gastonia Municipal Airport.
All finishers receive a finisher medal at the finish line. Awards include overall first place for male and female, and age group awards for first, second, and third place in the following divisions for both male and female: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
