Runway 5k : Gastonia
The Runway 5k takes place on September 12, 2026, at Gastonia Municipal Airport, located at 1030 Gaston Day School, Gastonia, NC 28056. The event benefits the Gaston County Sheriff's Office Explorer Program and uses a USTF certified 5K course that starts and finishes on the runway.
Entry options are listed as $30 with a shirt or $25 without a shirt; the no-shirt option reduces the fee by $5. Race day registration is offered between 6:00 am and 7:00 am. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm at the airport address above. Note that race shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after August 15, 2026.
All finishers receive a finisher medal at the finish. Awards include overall 1st place for male and female, and age-group awards for 1st through 3rd place (male and female) in these categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Water and snacks are provided at the finish. The course has a one-hour maximum time to complete, reflecting runway closure constraints per FAA.
