Runway 5K
The Runway 5K takes place on October 17, 2026, with parking at Charlotte Premium Outlets and bus transportation to the secure airfield at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The event runs entirely on airport runways and taxiways and is described as a flat course where participants will observe aircraft operations from the race route.
The event is limited to 1600 participants. All entrants must register as runners; children 12 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. Participants aged 18 and over must present a REAL ID or passport to enter the race area.
Bags are not permitted inside the event area. Diaper bags are allowed but will be subject to search. Registration is nonrefundable; transfers are permitted through October 10, 2026. Race management may cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions, and registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation for Acts of God.
Proceeds support Airport Opportunity Scholarships at Central Piedmont Community College. These scholarships are intended for graduates of Charlotte Mecklenburg schools who are Title 1 eligible, and recipients will attend CPCCs Summer Bridge academic enrichment program before enrolling in a two year aviation degree program.
