CLT Runway 5K : 2026
The CLT Runway 5K is scheduled for October 17, 2026 and takes place on the runways and taxiways of Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The event is organized as a single 5K course run entirely on airport pavement where participants can see aircraft queuing, taking off, and landing. The race is described as flat and fast and is limited to 1,600 participants.
Participants will park at Charlotte Premium Outlets and ride shuttle buses to the secure airfield race area. All entrants must register as runners; children 12 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. Participants 18 and over are required to present a REAL ID or passport to gain entry to the race area.
Bags are not permitted into the event area; diaper bags are allowed but will be subject to search. Registration policies state that there are no refunds, transfers are allowed until October 10, 2026, and Race Management may cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions. Registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to Acts of God.
Proceeds will support Airport Opportunity Scholarships at Central Piedmont Community College. The scholarships are intended for CMS graduates who are Title 1 eligible and include participation in a Summer Bridge program and enrollment in a two year aviation career program.
