Races at Riverdale Regional Park
The Runs With Scissors Races take place in Brighton, Colorado, at the Riverdale Regional Park. The event features multiple distances conducted on a short loop course measuring 1.31 miles. Participants complete a specific number of laps depending on their chosen distance:
- Half Marathon: 10 laps (13.1 miles)
- Marathon: 20 laps (26.2 miles)
- 50K Ultra Marathon: 24 laps (50 kilometers)
Due to the loop format, runners pass an aid station and a restroom every 1.31 miles. Two additional restrooms are located elsewhere along the course. Prizes are awarded to the overall top three male and female finishers in each of the three distances.
Participants receive a custom 16 oz. pub-style glass and a distance-specific wicking beanie. Finishers are also awarded a scissors-shaped medal. Runners who register before March 20, 2026, are guaranteed a medal and will have their name printed on the medal ribbon.
A virtual option is available for all three distances. Virtual participants must complete their run or walk without mechanical assistance between April 17 and April 26, 2026. Those who submit their times by the following Wednesday receive the finisher's medal and beanie by mail. A portion of the proceeds from the event is donated to the organization Almost Home, Inc.
