Jackalope Trail Run
The Jackalope Trail Run is the second race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The event offers two trail distances:
- 4 Mile
- 8 Mile
The field is capped at 400 runners. All registrants for these distances receive a short sleeve tri-blend race shirt and a finisher award; the shirt design is the same across the series. The event follows a cupless policy: runners must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase for $5.
Courses include several bluff viewpoints, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Multiple aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items. Marco's Pizza is a race sponsor and provides pizza at the finish line for participants.
Packet pickup for this race is scheduled for the Friday before the race at the RunningLane store and also the morning of the race. Age group awards use these divisions for all races: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Organizers note very loose cutoffs overall and specify a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
