Jackalope Trail Run : Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, AL

The Jackalope Trail Run is the second race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park on July 11, 2026. The event offers two trail distances and is capped at 400 runners. Courses are described as spectator friendly, with bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls.

This is a cupless race. Participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup; a reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for five dollars. Several aid stations will be placed on course offering water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and other items. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor and pizza will be provided at the finish line.

All registrants for the Jackalope distances receive a short sleeve tri blend shirt and a finisher award; the shirt design is the same across the series. Registration closes Wednesday, July 8 at 11:59 PM CT. Packet pickup for Jackalope is Friday, July 10, 2026 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM at the RunningLane store, with limited pickup the morning of the race from 6:00 AM to 6:45 AM. Age groups run from 0-19 up to 70 plus. Organizers note very loose course cutoffs and a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants.
