Event Details

The Chupacabra Trail Race is the fourth event in the Wild Thangs Trail Series. It takes place at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama.

Distances

The event offers two race distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • 10 km

Course and Environment

The course is described as spectator-friendly. It features several bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Aid stations on the course provide water, Gatorade, soda, pretzels, M&M's, and granola bars. The event is a "cupless race," meaning participants must carry their own handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup.

Series and Registration

The Wild Thangs Trail Series consists of four races from June to August. Registration for the Chupacabra race is capped at 400 runners. All participants receive a t-shirt (which is the same for the entire series) and a finisher award. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor, providing pizza at the finish line.

Logistics

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at RunningLane in Huntsville, or on race morning. Age group awards are given for categories from 0-10 to 70+.
