Chupacabra Trail Race : August 22, 2026

The Chupacabra Trail Race takes place at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. It is the fourth race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series and offers two trail distances. The course is described as spectator friendly with bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations on course will supply water, Gatorade, cola, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items.

The event is capped at 400 runners. All participants in the 10K and half marathon receive a short sleeve tri-blend race shirt and a finisher award; the shirt is the same design used for the entire series. The race follows a cupless policy; runners must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable RunningLane cup is available for purchase at checkout for $5. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at RunningLane and also the morning of the race. Age groups apply for awards and are 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Cutoffs are generally loose, though Long Series participants face a 17 minute per mile cutoff. The organizer is RunningLane Events.
