Chupacabra Trail Race - August 22, 2026
Chupacabra Trail Race is the fourth event in the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama. The event offers trail distances and is limited to 400 runners. All participants in the 10K and half marathon receive a t-shirt and a finisher award; the shirt is the same design used for the entire series.
The course is described as spectator friendly and includes bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are placed on course and provide water, Gatorade, coke, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars, and similar items. Marco's Pizza sponsors the series and provides pizza at the finish line of each race.
The event follows a cupless policy. Runners must carry a handheld bottle, hydration pack, or reusable cup. A reusable RunningLane cup is available for purchase during checkout for $5. Organizers set a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants and note that runners who cannot maintain 15 minute miles may prefer the Short Series.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at RunningLane, located at 2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL 35801; same-day pickup is available at the venue.
