Running with the Bulls - Alaska
Running with the Bulls is an annual fundraiser held at Musk Ox Farm in Palmer, Alaska. The event offers multiple race options across the farm property and provides views of the surrounding mountains while participants move around the pastures. The name refers to the farm's musk oxen observing from their enclosures; participants do not run alongside or touch the animals.
Available distances:
- 1K Kid's Fun Run open to ages 0 to 7, parents may join.
- 5K run or walk.
- 10K run.
- Virtual participation option.
Course and logistics details: The route traverses the pastures and perimeter of the farm's 75-acre property and is entirely unpaved on mowed pastureland. Runners can expect uneven footing, hills, and large sun-exposed sections with limited shade. Water is not provided along the course; water will be available for filling bottles or hydration packs before and after the event. Restroom options include outdoor washrooms and indoor facilities. Strollers are permitted; an all-terrain stroller is recommended. Viewing, petting, or touching the musk oxen is not allowed at any time.
Additional notes: parking is limited, light snacks are provided, and bib pickup occurs the day before and the morning of the event. Virtual participants are advised to register in advance to receive commemorative shirts by race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
