Palmer's Dash for Gold 10K
The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Palmer, Alaska. It is part of a larger running event that also includes a 5K and a Kids 1 Mile. The Palmer's Dash for Gold 10K starts and ends at the Palmer Train Depot. The course goes through the town of Palmer.
This year, the event is held in collaboration with the Friends of the Palmer Public Library Inc., and all proceeds benefit this organization specifically for purchasing new library furniture and equipment. The event also serves as a St. Patrick's Day celebration. A parade is scheduled for before the races, and there will be live Irish music.
Registration is online only, with no day-of registration for the 5K or 10K. Registration opens on February 20th and closes at 8:00 AM on March 14th, 2026. Bib pickup is from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Palmer Community Center/Train Depot. The registration fee for the 10K is $35, with a price increase after March 11.
The first 200 participants to register for the 5K or 10K will receive a unique library book bag. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K. After the race, water, electrolytes, and light snacks will be available.
Participants are advised that March conditions in Alaska can be variable; pavements may be clear but could also have snow or ice.
In the event of extreme weather, a cancellation decision will be made on race day at 12:00 PM, with notifications sent via email and a specific social media page. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
