Running To Honor 5K Walk (or Run)
The Running To Honor 5K is a timed, family-friendly event held at Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan. The event is dedicated to remembering fallen soldiers and veterans, with a specific focus on supporting military veteran mental health. Participants follow a course that begins and ends near the Sheridan Pavilion.
The event features several participation options:
- 5K Walk (or Run)
- Virtual 5K
- Kids .5K (Point 5K) for ages 10 and under
The 5K course is open to all ages, with discounted registration available for participants aged 14 and under. The Kids .5K covers approximately 0.31 miles. For those unable to attend in person, the Virtual 5K allows for remote participation.
Participants who register by late June receive a t-shirt made of lattice material. These shirts feature symbolic designs, including the American flag on the left sleeve and the number 22 on the right sleeve to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention. Finisher medals are also provided.
Awards are presented to the overall and masters male and female winners, who receive a challenge coin and a gift. Additionally, challenge coins are awarded to the top three finishers in various age brackets ranging from 5 to over 90 years old. Proceeds from the event benefit organizations including the Taylor VFW Post 4422, My Warriors Place, and Running To Honor.
Heritage Park provides 1,100 parking spots, with overflow parking available at the nearby Wayne County Community College lot. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
