Running the Rose
Running the Rose is a trail race held at Tyler State Park, with single-track trails through East Texas pine forest and 100 foot tall trees. The course features rolling hills and looped segments that repeat for the longer distances.
Distances offered:
- 7K (1 x 4.3 mile loop)
- 11 mile (1 x 11 mile loop)
- 22 mile (2 x 11 mile loop)
- 54K (3 x 11 mile loop)
- 108K (6 x 11 mile loop)
Registrations are online only; there are no paper registrations on race morning. All runners must carry a hydration device such as a water bottle or hydration bladder. Runners in longer distances are required to carry a headlamp. The event is cupless; reusable collapsible cups are sold at packet pick up for $5.
Aid stations are located on the loop at Old Road (mile 3.22), Black Jack (mile 8.07), and Start/Finish (mile 11). Aid stations provide water, endurance drinks, and typical aid station food. Drop bags are permitted for the 108K, 54K, and 22 mile events. Pacers are allowed only for the 108K and only for the last two loops; pacers must complete required waiver information ahead of time.
Park day passes cost $6 for persons 13 and older; participants must show proof of payment or a park pass or pay at packet pick up. Tyler State Park offers camping sites and nearby lodging options include local hotels. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
