Running the Grove 5K
The 16th Annual Running the Grove 5K is a community road event held at Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Loretto, Tennessee. The event commemorates the life of Jeff Putman and includes timed and untimed options on local roads.
Distances offered:
- 5K Race five kilometers
- 1 Mile Fun Run one mile
- Both four miles
Registration opens July 10 and closes September 13. Entry fees in the source listing are $25 for the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, and $30 for the four-mile option. Runners who register before the T-shirt deadline on September 4 are guaranteed a short-sleeve race shirt in the size ordered.
Awards include a trophy for overall male and female winners and medals for first and second place within age divisions: Under 12, 13-15, 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, and 66 plus. The event is professionally RFID chip timed by Race Ready Events. The 5K course is not certified and includes hills with grades of about 5 to 10 percent.
Race morning packet pick-up and in-person registration are available at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Free on-site parking is provided. Strollers are allowed toward the back of the pack; only runners, joggers, walkers, baby strollers, restrained pets, and wheelchairs are permitted on course.
