2026 Running Out of Time 5k & 12k
This event is held on December 31 at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA. It offers two course distances run on trails and park paths around the lake.
- 5k course mostly paved with limited elevation gains.
- 12k course mostly paved with a short gravel section and several hills.
The event is chip timed. Registered runners receive a finisher's medal and a technical Drifit event shirt. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed only for runners registered before December 16; extras may be available after that date on a first come first served basis. Race day registration is available and packet pickup is offered at the event; participants are advised to arrive about one hour before their race to check in. Walkers and strollers are welcome.
Water stations are placed along the courses: two stations on the 5k and six stations on the 12k at the listed approximate mile markers. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and via a QR code on race day; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race.
The event awards the top three men and women overall and first and second place male and female in standard age groups. A virtual run option is available. The race benefits the nonprofit We Rock Cancer. Points from this race count toward the organizer’s year long series and fall series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
